Your feet are as individual as you and special care needs to be taken to ensure that they don't become a liability.
Many people just put up with poor foot health and foot pain as a symptom of fashion footwear and todays busy lifestyle. But smart people get help from our experienced podiatrists.
Computerised video assessment of foot and lower limb movement helps identify existing and potential problems. This technology using multiple video cameras and an analysis program called Silicon Coach is proving invaluable in analysing problems in active young children and adults involved in sport and the mature person maintaining independence and a healthy lifestyle. This is ideal for assessing sports injuries like shin splints, stress fractures, heel and knee pain and recurring blisters. It is ideal for assessment of your childrens walking patterns especially for those children that trip constantly, are pigeon toed, have rolling in (flat) feet or complain of growing pains. It is also used to evaluate footwear and its effect on foot position and movement and can be useful to assist post surgical rehabilitation and gait re-education.
Having been in practice for 30 years and using this technology for many years has enabled us to compile a library of videos of gait (walking patterns) of many of our patients as they have grown and changed. This has enabled us to evaluate and review our treatments to focus on providing the best foot care available.
At Coorparoo Podiatry Centre we use both static and dynamic technology to assess your foot position in stance and in walking. Podoscopes are used to assess pressure areas underneath the foot. This is especially useful to locate areas that are at risk for patients with diabetes.
Full vascular assessments are undertaken for those people that have diabetes, peripheral vascular disease or post surgery to determine the status of their foot health. Doppler and photoplethysmography studies are used for evaluation. Sensory evaluation is also included. These studies are valuable to determine an accurate picture of foot health and monitor changes on a regular basis especially for the diabetic or compromised foot.
